**Originally Listed At $250**

North America, Native American, Midwestern to Eastern United States, Late Archaic to Late Woodlands period, ca. 1000 BCE to 800 CE. A pair of stone tools that are hand-knapped from chert in hues of creamy white, gray, and warm ochre. Both are similar in shape, bifacial and slightly convex- a slightly flared cutting edge and smaller butt end. Knapped blades like these are made using percussion, striking the chert with harder stones; the process required patience and skill to make the correct shape without shattering or breaking off too much chert, and may have functioned as hide scrapers or knives. Size: 3.5" L x 2" W (8.9 cm x 5.1 cm)

Provenance: private Kansas City, Missouri, USA collection, ex-John Townsend collection, formed in the 1970s and earlier.
