Native American, Southwestern United States, Central and Southern Arizona, Hohokam culture, ca. 950 to 1150 CE; Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 to 200 BCE. A pair of hand-built pottery vessels, a large Hohokam red on buff pot with a interesting crosshatching grid pattern. The smaller Chupicuaro jar is highly burnished and also a buff hue with a umber brown concentric diamond pattern around the shoulder. Size of larger: 8.5" W x 7" H (21.6 cm x 17.8 cm)

  • Condition: Small hole through the sides of the larger pot and some deep gouges and surface pitting. Nice root marks on the interior. The smaller vessel has some small losses to the rim. Intact. Heavy earthen deposits on the interior, scattered manganese, and dark firing clouds.
