Description:

Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. What a striking vessel! With the body made from opaque, milky-colored crystal and hammered sheet silver, and studded with turquoise, moonstones, and pale red and green gemstones, this is an instant conversation starter. The body of the vessel stands on a diminutive silver foot. A thin neck rises to a wide-mouthed opening, which has a fitted lid capped by a flower-like motif and a pointed handle. This is attached to the body by a silver chain whose other end is attached to the curved silver handle. A small leaf-like finial flares off the bottom of the handle. Opposite the handle is a curved spout, made from segmented silver so that it resembles the trunk of an elephant. Size: 7.25" L x 3.9" W x 8.75" H (18.4 cm x 9.9 cm x 22.2 cm)
