Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand or Cambodia, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden coconut grater depicted in the form of a pleasantly plump and highly-stylized recumbent rabbit. The adorable bunny rests atop a quartet of retracted legs and has a bulbous body, a pair of laid back ears, and an upturned tail. The raised head boasts a pair of inlaid marbleized blue glass eyes, and a curved iron grating tool projects from the mouth. Liberal amounts of red pigment still adorn his body. Size: 20" L x 7.875" W x 10.75" H (50.8 cm x 20 cm x 27.3 cm)
