Description:

Central Asia, Nepal, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful brass shrine depicting a four-armed deity, possibly Brahma, set into a frame, bordered and raised up against on a background of swirling, fine filigree. Inlaid turquoise, red coral, and glass stud the surface and form the deity's body and earrings. The deity's body is segmented and he stands, shirtless, wearing a skirt, and holding an implement in each of his hands as well as a crown with granules decorating its five points. The back of the piece is undecorated, a thin sheet of brass over wood. Size: 1.15" L x 10.05" W x 12.05" H (2.9 cm x 25.5 cm x 30.6 cm)
