Description:

Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, Tlingit or Athabaskan (Athabascan, Athapascan, Athapaskan, Dene) peoples, ca. 19th century CE. A cast-copper knife of a slender form. The petaloid blade has a crested midrib flanked by sharpened edges, and the hide-wrapped handle is surmounted by a forked spiral finial. Knives like this example were able to be carried as personal hand weapons as well as utilitarian tools or could be bound to the end of a pole for use as a makeshift spear blade. Size: 14.4" L x 3.3" W (36.6 cm x 8.4 cm)
