Description:

Native American, Eastern United States, Iroquois tribe, ca. 19th century CE. An interesting, hand-carved wooden club of a sturdy form with a slender handle leading up to an egg-shaped head. The knobbed head exhibits a dense quality that would focus the energy behind a blow onto one minute area, causing excessive damage to its target. The surfaces of the weapon are imbued with a reflective luster that, along with the wood's natural brown and tan coloration, creates an attractive presentation. Size: 20.5" L x 2.1" W (52.1 cm x 5.3 cm)

Provenance: ex-Stein collection, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA, purchased July 7, 2014; ex-Fagan Arms, Clinton Township, Michigan, USA
