Native American, Plains, Cree, ca. late 19th century CE. A hand-made deer hide tobacco bag decorated with a beautiful iconographic/decorative program in two panels delineated with glass beads. One panel features a floral motif in scarlet, rose, pink, yellow, and green hues against a ground made of gold and white beads. On the verso is another panel presenting a beautiful abstract, ribbon-like design comprised of cherry red, pink, black, and sky blue against a white ground and surrounded by a cobalt blue border. While some of the glass beads are opaque, many are translucent. Additional beads decorate the tassels. Size: 8" W x 10.5" H (20.3 cm x 26.7 cm)
