Description:

North America, Mexico, ca. 19th century CE. A fine pair of hand-built iron spurs with curved bands, rectangular buckles, circular strap loops, protruding shanks in the form of stylized rooster heads, and multi-pointed rowels. The bands of each spur exhibit several grooves that create a spiraling presentation, and thinner grooves are shown just in front of each strap loop. Mexican vaqueros (and occasional vaqueras) are the quintessential cowboy, and their techniques for managing cattle across the wide-open landscapes of Mexico and what is today the American West were the inspiration for the iconic figure of America's Wild West. Size: 3.75" W x 7.125" H (9.5 cm x 18.1 cm)
