Description:

East Asia, Japan, late Edo to early Meiji, ca. 19th century CE. An exemplary stoneware teapot displaying a bulbous body, a gently sloped shoulder, a slender, cylindrical neck, a flared rim, and a circular lid with extending tubular walls that allow it to be secured to the top of the vessel. A petite pottery spout rises from the shoulder, tapering to its curved end. The exterior of the vessel is enveloped in a lustrous hue of cream speckled with dots of chocolate brown and adorned with an expertly painted peacock amongst flowers and leaves in shades of sky blue and olive. Size: 6.125" in diameter x 9.5" H (15.6 cm x 24.1 cm)
