Description:

Western/Southern Europe, Italy, Florence, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A lovely pottery vase that was perhaps meant to be kept outdoors in a garden setting. The vessel features a stable base, an inverted piriform body with a sloped shoulder, a thick rim surrounding the deep interior cavity, and three curved strap handles spaced equidistantly around the body. Between the handles are three Florentine lilies enclosed within shield-shaped frames representing the coat of arms for Florence, Italy and the entire vessel - save for the rim - is engulfed in lustrous, cream-hued slip. Size: 9" W x 13.1" H (22.9 cm x 33.3 cm)

Provenance: private Los Angeles, California, USA collection, 1980s-2000s
