Description:

Native American / First Nations, Northwestern United States, Alaska, or Canada, Inuit culture, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A striking harpoon spear made from cedarwood with an walrus ivory, held together by cords of rattan and animal hide. An opening at the top of the ivory would have once head the sharp harpoon tip. Size: 1.8" W x 68.5" H (4.6 cm x 174 cm)

This is an ESA antique exempt piece of ivory and cannot be sold internationally or to anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington.

    Condition:
  • Missing harpoon tip. Minor loss to one peg on ivory head and chipping to wood at opposite end. Some loosening and losses to cords as well as stiffening to leather. Rich patina throughout.
