Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Lombok region, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful kris handle that is carved from hardwood and meant to affix to a woman's kris dagger. The lustrous handle depicts a monkey squatting atop a coiled snake while holding it by the throat. The 79% silver spacer cap beneath the handle is covered in gilding and acts as a buffer above a steel blade. Size: 0.875" W x 2.375" H (2.2 cm x 6 cm); 4.25" H (10.8 cm) on included custom stand; quality of silver: 79%
