Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Java, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful wooden handle meant to adorn the tang of a kris blade. The handle features a stylized anthropomorphic figure with curved arms and legs, a tubular torso, and an expressive countenance in front of the rounded head. Lustrous layers of dark-brown patina have formed across the handle. Size: 1" W x 4.8" H (2.5 cm x 12.2 cm); 5.625" H (14.3 cm) on included custom stand.
