Description:

Southeast Asia, Indonesia, probably Java, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A remarkable piece of ceremonial weaponry featuring a finely carved wooden handle made of two distinctive colors of wood. The Damascus steel blade presents marvelous mottled patterns akin to flowing eddies of water and is skillfully cut to create a mesmerizing silhouette. The top of the blade has a pretty, curled flourish. The sheath is made of wood wrapped decoratively with silver wire. A large hook made of polished black horn is on the opposite side of the sheath. Size: 2.25" W x 16.85" H (5.7 cm x 42.8 cm)
