Description:

Central Asia, northern India/Pakistan, Indo-Persian culture, ca. first half of the 19th century CE. A forged-iron arm guard known as a lower cannon meant to protect one's forearm. The plate iron panel has a central crest that terminates at the pointed elbow section, a flared wrist guard, and a swath of chainmail mesh meant to guard one's hand. Several peripheral buckles were intended to receive leather attachment straps. The orientation of the chainmail thumb area indicates it was intended for a left arm and hand. Fine patina has formed across all components and makes for an attractive armor piece. Lucite display block for photography purposes only. Size: 13.25" L x 3.875" W (33.7 cm x 9.8 cm); (w/ chainmail mesh): 19.375" L (49.2 cm)
