**First Time At Auction**

South Asia, India, ca. 19th century CE. A lovely devotional wood panel depicting a Hindu deity, perhaps Vishnu, standing on an ornate ledge holding a ring discus, and a lengthy club. Jewelry adorns his ankles, arms, neck, ears, and a crown sits on top of the rounded face. The visage is comprised of large eyes, and a prominent nose. Above Vishnu's head is a shikhara spire, part of Hindu temple architecture. The orange and red pigments add vibrancy to this piece and a modern ring is set on the backside for display purposes.
