Description:

South Asia, India, Mughal Empire, ca. early to mid-19th century CE. A beautiful example of an archer's thumb ring that is hand-carved from grassy green jadeite with light gray and beige inclusions scattered throughout. The archer's ring is worn on the marksman's stronger hand, the hand that pulls the bowstring, with its tab or tongue fitted over the pad of the thumb. Not only does it protect the thumb, but it also allows for a more precise release of the bowstring. Size: 2.28" L x 1.6" W (5.8 cm x 4.1 cm); (interior thumb hole): 0.87" Diameter (2.2 cm)
