Central Asia, India, ca. 19th century CE. A solid bronze statue of Vishnu, one of the principal deities of Hinduism, known as the preserver in the Hindu trinity (Trimurti) which also includes Brahma and Shiva. Cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process, this statue holds a pair of conch attributes (Panchajanya shankha) in two upper hands and stands upon an integral pedestal. Vishnu wears an elaborate headdress, large ear ornaments, and elegantly designed garments and ornaments upon his well-defined body. What's more, intricate detailing embellishes all sides of this figure. Size: 2" W x 3.5" H (5.1 cm x 8.9 cm)
