South Asia, India, ca. 19th to 20th century CE. An elaborately-detailed brass sculpture of the Hindu god Shiva, shown standing atop an integral plinth and heavily embellished with a crescent moon headdress, a piled coiffure from which flows the Sacred Ganga River, a serpent wrapping across his chest, and many lavish adornments. He extends each of his 4 arms: 3 of which holding a flaming torch, a pouring vessel, and rosary beads, while the fourth displays the surya mudra representing the fire element. Size: 7.9" W x 19" H (20.1 cm x 48.3 cm)
