Description:

South America, Guatemala, Antigua, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful pair of Antigua majolica bowls of glazed terracotta, with a beautiful astral / floral design on the tondo and concentric bands of wavy motifs adorning the inner walls, all in brilliant hues of yellow, cornflower blue, and green on a white ground. Mirroring this, the rim was hand modeled to create a wavy edge. What attention to detail! The exteriors are painted with a white glaze. A lovely example of the Spanish Colonial tradition. Both with wall mount suspension hooks on back. Size: each measures ~10" in diameter x 3" (25.4 x 7.6 cm)
