East Asia, China, late Qing to early Republic, ca. mid-19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful and wearable bracelet carved from serpentine of a sage green color. Presented on the exterior is a quartet of abstract zoomorphic creatures resembling either felines or dragons with spade-shaped heads, broad bodies, and sinuous tails. The outer register is outlined with a pair of incised striations, and the interior surfaces are incredibly smooth to the touch. A fashionable accessory able to complement any ensemble!
