East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th to 20th century CE. A pleasing porcelain vase boasting an elongated piriform body meticulously hand-painted with blue-on-white decoration of dense floral and phytomorphic designs surrounding Shuang-xi or "double happiness" symbols. Shuang-xi are common motifs on pottery and represent contentment in marriage. A pair of phytomorphic handles flank the concave neck of the vessel, sitting just below the flared and raised rim adorned with a band of meander motif. Size: 10.3" Diameter x 23.6" H (26.2 cm x 59.9 cm); 25.8" H (65.5 cm) on included custom stand.
