Description:

North America, United States, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful wood percussion rifle with a muzzle-loading steel barrel and a slender wooden ram rod housed beneath. The lock plate is stamped with a faint name or maker mark, and engraved foliate motifs adorn the plate, hammer, and trigger guard. The backstock is hand-carved from a single piece of dark-hued hardwood and is incised with crosshatched lines. A handsome weapon that would be a fine piece to hang over a mantle. Size: 51.25" L x 5.5" W (130.2 cm x 14 cm); bore size: 0.75" W (1.9 cm)
