Description:

West Africa, Mali or Niger, Tuareg peoples, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A fine dagger meant to be hidden up the baggy sleeves of one's garb. The forged-steel blade has sharpened edges, a pointed tip, and an inscribed Arabic word on either face. The hardwood handle is adorned with 95% silver plating along the hand guard and pommel as well as a pair of hemispherical bosses along each side of the shoulder. The leather scabbard is accentuated by tightly bound leather cords which comprise the top, lower tip, and arm strap, and two panels of bumpy cobra skin. Size (w/ sheath): 2.9" W x 11.75" H (7.4 cm x 29.8 cm); 12.3" H (31.2 cm) on included custom stand; (blade): 6.2" L (15.7 cm)
