Europe, Germany, made in Danzig, ca. 1920 to 1939 CE. An incredibly elegant antique necklace, featuring 133 pearls on a single long strand with a 14K white gold clasp studded with three diamonds. It is stored in its original box, which is leather over wood with brass hinges and clasp and an interior lined with velvet and silk. The interior features the name of the jeweler and location: Moritz, Strimpf, and John, Hof-Traveliere, Danzig. Family lore tells that this necklace was smuggled out of Nazi Germany in 1938. Length of strand: 22" L (55.9 cm); size of largest diamond in clasp: .2" W (0.5 cm); size of largest pearl: .15" W (0.4 cm)

Provenance: ex-Johnson collection, Houston, Texas, USA, acquired at auction between 2010 and 2013

  • Condition: Necklace is in excellent condition. It comes with its original box, which has wear commensurate with age including some discoloration to the different fabrics, and the leather and silk is worn away around the clasp. Again, the necklace is in excellent condition.
