Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Akimel O'odham (Pima), ca. 1920s CE. A coiled cylindrical basket made from natural plant fibers such as a willow, sumac, and/or devil's claw. The interior has a black center with coiling to the right. The sides have pictorial motifs of horses. The early O'odham baskets were primarily utilitarian and religious, and later were made as sale items, and those with pictorial elements were highly valued by collectors. Size: 9.75" Diameter x 7" H (24.8 cm x 17.8 cm)
