Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A large, round, ornate, cast bronze lid from a vessel. The top of the lid is a smooth, undecorated, slightly convex plane, while the sides are a band of relief images depicting a horse, an elephant, multiple incarnations of the Buddha, and the wheel, treasure vase, and conch of the Eight Auspicious Symbols. These are all set into a background of curved and twining vines and flowers, with each element set upon a lotus throne. Size: 7.75" W x 1.75" H (19.7 cm x 4.4 cm)
