Description:

Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 18th century CE. A cast bronze statue of the god Ganesha (Ganesh), seated on a throne, attributes to either side of his head. The statue may once have been gilded. Ganesha, the elephant-headed patron of arts and sciences, revered for his intellect and wisdom, is nicely displayed here. His head faces the viewer, a decorative crown around his broad forehead. He has a human-like body, with a large belly - a feature of the god's depiction that first appeared in the Gupta Period. Peeking out between his feet is his vahana (mount), a mouse. Size: 1.6" W x 2.4" H (4.1 cm x 6.1 cm)
