Description:

East Asia, Korea, ca. 17th to 19th century CE. A lovely stoneware vase coated with a white slip and painted with a brown iron pigment - reminiscent of Buncheong ware created several centuries earlier. The piece presents with a piriform body that narrows top a slender neck topped by a flared rim, all upon a concave round foot. On the central register, characters are delineated in brown against a white, crackle-glazed ground. Above and below are incised rings that encircle the vessel - two above and two below - imbuing the vessel with even more charm. Size: 4.375" W x 6.625" H (11.1 cm x 16.8 cm)
