Description:

Middle East, Islamic World, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A lovely ensemble of 6 intaglios of varying shapes carved from a plethora of colorful stones. First is a pair of octagonal carnelian stones with Arabic script incised along the front faces. Next are two opaque green octagonal carvings, perhaps emeralds, with gently beveled peripheries. An ovoid cabochon is carved from brown-hued hardstone and has been polished to exhibit a lustrous sheen. The largest intaglio is a slender ovoid carnelian cabochon with attractive orange and yellow hues. Size of largest (ovoid carnelian): 0.7" L x 0.3" W (1.8 cm x 0.8 cm)
