Description:

India, ca. 18th century CE. This is a dark, polished wood carved fragment that may have been an architectural panel. With intricate carving, it shows a seated bodhisattva with one leg dangling over the edge of a platform; he has an attendant seated beside him and then two standing to his other side, fanning him. Like much Buddhist art, every time you look at this piece you notice another interesting detail! Size: 10" W x 5" H (25.4 cm x 12.7 cm)
