North America, Colonial / Federal America, ca. late 18th century CE. A marvelous, massive copper cooking kettle boasting a rounded, circular base, a wide, rolled rim over a deep basin, a cylindrical body, and a heavy iron handle. The sizable iron handle is attached via two iron loops that have been bolted to the sides of the vessel. Kettles like this example were used to make apple butter throughout the Colonial period. Size: 23.25" W x 16.875" H (59.1 cm x 42.9 cm)
