Description:

Southeast Asia, Vietnam, ca. 17th to 19th century CE. This is a beautiful stoneware ewer or tea pot with a waisted foot and carinated body. The surface is glazed with blue on white patterns; the foot is decorated with stylized cloud shapes, and the vessel’s body is painted with foliate and geometric shapes. Flanking the ewer’s neck are relief lizards with sinuous tails. One lizard forms a handle that extends from the shoulder to the vessel’s neck, and the other lizard wraps around the short spout. A lid with a recumbent feline finial fits snugly into the small mouth. A charming piece! Size: 5.5" in diameter x 8.5" H (14 cm x 21.6 cm)
