Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Ayutthaya period, ca. 17th to 18th century CE. A beautiful and serene cast-bronze Buddha head. The visage exudes a wonderful sense of peace and tranquility, with downcast eyes, arched brows, a naturalistic nose, full lips, and stretched earlobes symbolizing Buddha's all-hearing powers, benevolence, and wisdom. Atop the head is Buddha's distinctive curled coiffure with a prominent, pointed "flaming" ushnisha. A lovely example of an Ayutthaya bronze Buddha head with a blue-green and russet patina that further embellish the visage with beauty and elegance. Size: 3.25" H (8.3 cm); 4.7" H (11.9 cm) on included custom stand.
