Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Sawankalok) culture, Sukhothai Period, ca. 16th century CE. A celadon pottery jar with a beautifully accented exterior speckled with cream-hued pigment that creates a beautiful gradient that intensifies towards the base. The body has a piriform shape with a rounded bottom set atop a flat discoidal foot. The upper register includes a corseted conical neck which flares at its top to create a wide-lipped opening. The exterior register features a minimalist linear motif composed of an elongated crosshatch pattern and several narrow lines which run across its horizontal plane. Size: 5" W x 7.9" H (12.7 cm x 20.1 cm)
