Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Sawankalok) culture, Sukhothai Period, ca. 16th century CE. An intriguing celadon pottery jar with a wide mouth, a dramatically corseted base, and a delicate floral motif painted across its exterior. The jar is set on a flat discoidal foot, with a ridged base featuring four linear striations that encircle it entirely. The painted program features a spiky leaf scroll set between multi-banded borders. The rimmed lip completes an enchanting silhouette. Size: 6.5" W x 5.5" H (16.5 cm x 14 cm)
