Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Sawankalok) culture, Sukhothai Period, ca. 16th century CE. A globular pottery jar with a light celadon glaze and linear motifs painted across its exterior. The vessel is set on a flat discoidal foot and has a compact, apple-shaped body with a conical neck and flared lip. Its surfaces have been lightly glazed, with interchanging painted registers along its midsection featuring floral and crosshatched patterns. A beautiful example with a stone-like finish and a gray-green hue. Size: 5" W x 6" H (12.7 cm x 15.2 cm)

  • Condition: Evident weathering of painted motif, but ample pigments remain, and overall design is still discernible. Surface as a nice stone-like feel to the touch, and a slight luster. Overall good condition and felly intact. A very well constructed vessel!
