Native American, Western United States, Assorted Tribes, ca. mid to late 20th century CE; Latin America, Northern Mexico, Tarahumara culture, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A collection of 16 handwoven baskets from several different Native American & Mexican cultures, including a checkered Yavapai-Apache winnowing style tray, a pedestal basket possibly Yokut, Tsimshian twined lidded basket, miniature twill plaited Tarahumara nesting baskets that are increasingly more petite until thimble sized! The painted wicker sewing basket is antique, but probably not Native American made. Size of painted oval basket: 10" L x 7" W x 3" H (25.4 cm x 17.8 cm x 7.6 cm); smallest basket: 0.75" L x 0.75" W x 3" H (1.9 cm x 1.9 cm x 7.6 cm)
