Description:

Central Europe, Germany, late Medieval to early Renaissance period, ca. mid-15th to early 16th century CE. A forged-iron weapon known as a bastard sword (also hand-and-a-half sword) with a handle that is slightly longer to accommodate either single-handed or double-handed strikes. The narrow, double-edged blade tapers distinctly towards an acute tip with a shallow fuller that runs almost the entire length, and a petite copper crucifix is inlaid on one side of the blade shoulder. The broad, crescent-shaped hand guard sweeps across the shoulder, and the slender handle is capped with a bulbous, drop-form pommel. Size: 8.8" W x 45.75" H (22.4 cm x 116.2 cm)
