Western Europe, probably England, France, or Germany, Medieval period, ca. 14th to early 15th century CE. A fine forged-iron dagger blade with a sturdy tang, a thick spine, a tapered point with a short fuller near the tip, and a sharpened edge. The area between the tang and blade is adorned with an attractive and functional thumb rest in the shape of a petite scallop shell, and the remaining tang rivets suggest the handle was composed of a perishable material like wood or leather. Size: 12.875" L x 1.125" W (32.7 cm x 2.9 cm); 4.25" H (10.8 cm) on included custom stand.
