Ancient Near East, Iran, Nishapur, ca. 12th century CE. A wheel-thrown pottery bowl with lovely decorations within the deep basin. The vessel exhibits a squat foot and broad walls with a thin rim. The interior bears a beige-hued ground that provides a nice base color atop which black and caramel-brown linear and circular motifs are presented. Size: 8.125" W x 3" H (20.6 cm x 7.6 cm)

  • Condition: Repaired from multiple pieces, with light restoration in some areas, and resurfacing with overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and minor nicks to rim, walls, basin, and base. Great remains of original pigment within basin. Old inventory label beneath foot.
