Ancient Near East, Islamic, ca. 12th to 14th century CE. A gorgeous ring, cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process, comprised of 90% gold (equivalent to 21K+ gold). The thick band has a small casting nub on the bottom as well as incised curvilinear motifs presented on the gently-expanding shoulders as well as beneath the main body. The raised, circular bezel is ringed with small gold spheres and boasts a large, turquoise-hued glass cabochon in the center. A stunning work of wearable ancient art! Size (ring): 0.75" W x 1" H (1.9 cm x 2.5 cm); size (cabochon): 0.6" L x 0.5" W (1.5 cm x 1.3 cm); quality of gold: 90% (equivalent to 21K+); total weight: 15.6 grams; US ring size 3.25.
