Description:

East Asia, Korea, Goryeo period, ca. 918 to 1392 CE. A fascinating copper clasp featuring a meandering zoomorphic design and a curved hook in the form of a serpent or bird. The stylized central imagery displays a pair of rams' heads around the periphery and the head of a canine near the bottom. During the Goryeo period, tombs were furnished with an elaborate assemblage of objects was believed to honor and comfort the newly deceased, such as everyday objects and ornaments like this hook. Size: 1" W x 2.6" H (2.5 cm x 6.6 cm); 3.3" H (8.4 cm) on included custom stand.
