Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, Pueblo, ca. late 20th century CE. A necklace comprised of lightly polished turquoise nuggets and heishi shell beads, at the center is a massive spondylus (spiny oyster) shell carved into an owl with a black stone beak and chrysocolla eyes. The verso is signed "PJ 6/03." The owl is secured with a metal ring and is easily removable if one wish to wear only the turquoise necklace. Size of owl: 4.25" L x 4.5" W (10.8 cm x 11.4 cm); turquoise strand: 23" L (58.4 cm)
