The necklace is comprised of a brass chain and a 55% silver crescent pendant with dangling brass bells, the frontside covered with delicate applied filigree and granulation. The 40% silver earrings are strung on large hooks with medallions and more dangling bells to repel evil spirits! Bawsani jewelry is a traditional Yemeni style known for its intricate filigree work, often handcrafted by Jewish silversmiths, particularly the Bawsani family. The intricate filigree techniques pioneered by the Bawsani family in Yemen have been adopted and adapted by other artists and silversmiths around the city of Sanaa.
