Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. When we first received this piece I was not sure if this was a very pregnant woman or a very portly gentleman - both occasionally portrayed in Colima art. The consensus is that she is a very, very pregnant, hollow-molded figure of a female, nude above her waist, belly extremely distended, arms to her sides with small breasts just about adjacent to her armpits. She has round applied eyes, indication of earrings, and painted red skirt. She seems to be way past her due date! Size: 4.5" W x 6" H (11.4 cm x 15.2 cm)
