Near East / Holy Land / Constantinople, Byzantine Empire, ca. 9th to 11th century CE. A beautiful cast silver cross pendant, with its vertical arms slightly longer than its horizontal arms and a wide loop for suspension at the end of one arm. The arms have cast bands around each and then flare out into cones or, in the case of the lowest one, a teardrop form. A reminder of the devotion and piety of people during this time period. Wearable! Size: 1.05" W x 1.5" H (2.7 cm x 3.8 cm); 10.7 grams

  • Condition: Nice dark silver patina on surface, with some areas more polished from touch. Small casting flaws on the ends of the arms give them a slightly irregular shape.
