Asia Minor/ Western Asia, Anatolia, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A wonderful stone bowl with steep side and clear drill marks around its interior, showing how ancient artisans made the vessel. Projecting from either side are aviform handles, each broad and pleasing to hook your fingers under. The sides are smooth, with a deep groove cut into the narrow rim. The base is slightly concave. This is a testament to the skill of the person who made this item, with its perfect symmetry and enduring form. Size: 8.35" W x 3.7" H (21.2 cm x 9.4 cm)
