Description:

William Warren Dailey (American, 1920-2002). "Bobcat" gouache on paper, n.d. Signed at center right. A stirring painting by William Warren Dailey depicting the head of a majestic bobcat, peering intensely outward from striking amber-hued eyes. Rendered in meticulous detail, the feline exhibits a thick coat of carefully delineated fur, wispy whiskers, and black-tipped ears. Dried grass and the swirling woodgrain of a log are shown in the foreground with the meandering branches of a pine above. Size of painting: 9.5" W x 13" H (24.1 cm x 33 cm); of frame: 23.125" W x 28.125" H (58.7 cm x 71.4 cm)

William Warren Dailey was born in Littleton, Colorado and died in Yuma, Arizona. He loved to paint wildlife, especially fowl. He is very clean and precise in his paintings. He will sketch his piece out in pencil first and then spend weeks or months carefully detailing each feather or hair on an animal.
